My speakers make a humming noise when the car is on, and it gets worse when I step on the gas.
There are several possibilities for the noise.
1. You could have a bad ground. The installer may have placed the ground in a bad location or did not get a good connect.
2. You could have wires crossed. Power wires give a electrostatic field. If you have speaker wires crossing RCAs or Power wires, it can result in this noise.
3. Are you using your factory headunit? If that's the case, most installers do not tap onto the radio for the remote wire turn-on. Make sure that this wire is tapped onto an accessory switched power and not on to a power source directly relating to the battery or alternator such as a starter or ignition wire.
If these results do not help, a ground loop isolator can sometimes remedy the situation. We've used it several times with success. Check here for the product.
This is more of a personal preference. Some amplifiers are better suited for sound competitions, and some are better suited for daily driving. The wattage that is listed on some amps may not be the true wattage. Some amplifiers output more power and some output significantly less. So be cautious and buy a brand that's recommended to produce the power for your application.
